The Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers are the most dominant teams in the NFL this season, with the Dallas Cowboys winning six of their past seven games.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the hunt for a top spot since Week 9, but have struggled to stay healthy.
With that in mind, we took a look at the best players on the teams that are on pace to win 10 or more games.
It’s easy to get excited about the Cowboys and Steelers, who are expected to be two of the most successful franchises in the history of the league.
But it’s hard to get caught up in who the next superstar might be.
The Cowboys have won seven straight games.
Pittsburgh has only lost three.
The teams combined for a whopping 10 wins in the regular season.
The Steelers have the NFL’s best defense, but the Cowboys’ offense has had the better season.
So who has the better team?
Let’s take a look.
Cowboys Cowboys defense The Cowboys defense is one of the best defensive units in the game.
The defense has allowed just 4.8 yards per carry and has allowed the fewest yards per play in the NFC.
The offensive line has also done a tremendous job keeping the Cowboys in check.
They have allowed just one touchdown in the past five games.
On defense, the Cowboys have the league’s best run defense and a top-five pass defense.
The team is also tied for first in sacks.
The pass rush has also allowed just 10 sacks.
It has allowed only nine quarterbacks to complete at least 70 percent of their passes for at least 300 yards and four of those have been for touchdowns.
The top-ranked pass rush is led by DeMarcus Lawrence, who has seven sacks.
Lawrence has allowed no sacks all season.
Lawrence leads the team with seven quarterback hurries.
The second-ranked rush is Ryan Kelly, who leads the league with 13 quarterback hurriers.
Kelly has given up just two sacks all year.
He has allowed three QB hits and two quarterback hurried passes.
Lawrence is second with seven QB hurries, but he is second only to DeMarcus as the most targeted player in the defense.
He leads the Cowboys with six pressures and seven quarterback hits.
Defensive line The Cowboys defensive line has been the best this season.
They rank first in the AFC with an average of just 2.5 sacks per game.
They are also tied with the Indianapolis Colts for the most quarterback pressures allowed per game, which ranks second.
The best defensive player is linebacker Derrick Johnson, who is second in the division with nine.
He also has a sack.
The other Cowboys players in the top 10 are defensive tackle Tyron Smith and cornerback Byron Jones.
Jones is second on the team in tackles with seven, and is tied for fourth with two forced fumbles.
Safety Eric Reid is second at seven, followed by safety Dashon Goldson and cornerback Marcus Sherels.
Cornerback Antonio Cromartie is third on the defense with four interceptions.
The secondary has also had some struggles.
Cornerbacks Antonio Cromby and Nolan Carroll have been unable to hold up against the run.
Cromby has been sacked just twice in the first six games, while Carroll has not allowed a sack all season (3.5).
The secondary is tied with Pittsburgh for the fewst fewest interceptions allowed per season, allowing the second fewest.
The safety position is also ranked in the bottom 10 with just four picks in the last five games, allowing just one pick in that time frame.
The outside linebacker position is ranked fifth with just two picks.
Linebacker Lawrence could become the most valuable player on the Cowboys.
He could become a big-time pass rusher, but also is a force on the inside.
He’s tied for the team lead in tackles.
He is second among the Cowboys linebackers with 13 stops, with linebacker Anthony Hitchens having 10 stops.
Hitchens is tied at No. 3 on the squad in tackles per game with 12.5.
The three most valuable players on defense are the Cowboys defense and cornerback Corey Graham.
He ranks fifth in the defensive tackles with 10.5, but has 10 interceptions.
Graham is tied second in tackles and second in interceptions with 11.
All three are also in the mix for Defensive Player of the Year honors.
