Aretha’s new band Aretha and her former band, The Misfits, have released their own new single titled ‘Halelujah’ and are set to release a new album on September 22.
The song was first revealed in a video of the band on Tuesday, with the track’s title and tracklisting still not being revealed.
Aretha, who is set to tour alongside The Misdits in October, has been in the studio working on new music with producer Steve Albini, who also worked with the duo in the past.
Speaking to Billboard, Arendas bandmates Franklin, 28, and her husband, guitarist Michael Franklin, 30, told Billboard that they are currently working on a new song together.
“We’ve got a song called ‘Haleslah’, which is a song I wrote about Halelujah,” Franklin said.
“I don’t know how to sing it, but I love it, so we’re going to get it out.”
Franklin added that she is currently in the middle of recording new material for her new album, which she hopes to be out around the end of 2019.
“The record’s about about to come out, so I’m really excited about it,” she said.
“I know it’s going to be good.”
The band has previously released three albums on the Columbia label, including 2014’s A Christmas Carol and 2015’s Franklin’s Greatest Hit.
The duo also released their first single, ‘Halo’, in 2013, which also featured Franklin and Albini.
The Misfit released their debut studio album, Blue Monday, in 2015, and have since toured extensively with their band The Mixtape, as well as the Americana-tinged, hip-hop-inspired album, The Music Is What It Is.
Aretha and the Misfittles’ new single ‘Hali’ will be released on September 21 via Columbia.
